WSFC Tournament Program
Eligiblity:
Members in good standing, who have attended at least TWO(2) club functions per
calendar year, are eligible for club awards. These events would be any of the
following:
Minimum Lengths and/or Weights of Eligible Species for Affidavits:
Blue Fish……12” or over…N.J. state bag limits
Kingfish……..10” or over
Croaker………10” or over
Weakfish…….N.J.state size and bag limits
Striped Bass…N.J. state size and bag limits
Summer Flounder..N.J. state size ,season and bag limits
Unusual Catch:
Any unusual catch should also be sent in for possible consideration by the
tournament committee.
Intra-Club Tournament
Scoring:
Each eligible fish measuring 10” (including sundials) will count as ten points
plus one point per inch there after. A fraction will count as the next quarter
inch. An appointed captain will record all fish caught during the time set for
the Intra-club tournament. In the
event of a tie, exact measurement (length and girth) will determine the winner.
Traveling Plaque:
One traveling plaque will be awarded for the largest fish caught in the above
categories. This plaque will be given to the 1st place winner for one
year. The traveling plaque will then be returned to the club, to be awarded to
the next season’s winner. Also, an
traveling plaque will be given to the individual with the most fish caught
during the year.
Individual Plaque:
1st
place awards for all species listed above as well as most fish. Only one award
for all first place fish per individual will be given.
2nd and 3rd places will also be listed on the
plaque.
Junior Members:
An award will be
given to the Junior member catching the largest of the eligible fish. Junior
members must qualify the same as regular members for club awards.
Inter-Club Tournaments:
The captain of the team will supply, purchase and maintain the bait. There will
be no limited set on the purchase of the bait, of any given tournament, as long
as discretion is used. Any member wanting different bait may purchase it at her
own expense. It will be the responsibility of the captain of each team to make
sure that the PINK SHEETS from each session, are legible, and that they get to
the tournament chairmen within 7 days of the end of each tournament. The club
will sponsor a “B” team and pay for the bait and registration.
Affidavits:
If more than one fish of the same species is caught on the same day, the largest
fish’s dimensions are entered on the front of the affidavit, the rest are listed
on the back with length, girth and weight (if you have it). The affidavit must
be signed and the total number of fish circled. Affidavits are invalid if
erased, crossed out or changed in any respect. Fish must be registered within
thirty (30) days of being caught.
Out of State Fish:
Fish caught on the surf, out of state must be registered the same manner as
above. Recognition will be given to the largest fish of each species within the
eligibility guidelines listed above.
Fish Released:
Affidavit must be filed as above and witnessed if possible. These fish have the
same recognition as the fish that are kept. They shall be measured in length,
girth and weight if possible.
